Le Mas des Romarins

About the house - our story...

We fell in love with the Mas des Romarins before we even saw the house, as soon as we arrived at the Chapelle de Notre Dame des Cyprès, we knew we were on to something special, then as we drove through the tiny hamlet and vineyards to get to the house itself that feeling grew...

This part of the world is stunning and we had been looking for a bigger place with land where we could set up as a quality, understated-luxury, back-to-nature bed and breakfast.

This family home had been empty for over 6 years when we first visited it, and was in dire need of some TLC.  We put in an offer in December 2015, never thinking it would be accepted. Whilst away on holiday in Thailand we got the call that the offer had been agreed to by the vendors.

Once the purchase completed we moved into a tent on-site to begin much of the demolition work ourselves, it was a slow but hugely rewarding summer as this grand old dame began to reveal her true and former beauty.

We stripped back render to the original bare stone walls, and took out walls to create a more generous and coherent space.

With our superb team of builders, we re-wired, re-roofed, re-plumbed, re-painted and re-plastered just about everything.  We put in 5 new bathrooms and 7 new toilets, a new septic tank and waste system as well as restoring the Veranda to become the orangerie which now serves as our bright, sunny and beautiful breakfast room overlooking the pretty town of Fayence.

We hope you will love being here as much as we do...

Our ethos...

Being part of our local community is very important to us, as is protecting the amazingly rich architectural heritage this part of the Cote d’Azur has to offer.

We’re now proud to be active members of Fayence Patrimoine which has as its mission statement the protection and restoration of local architectural gems.

Part of our participation – as well as getting involved with restoration projects - is our work in partnership with them.  For each of our rooms, for every night booked with us we will make a donation of €5 to Fayence Patrimoine shared with our local glider restoration charity, for more information see our partnerships section.

In addition we offer weekstay residential courses for people who would like to get involved in restoration and learn new skills or generally just “give something back”, so whether it’s dry stone walling or carpentry and joinery that gets your pulse racing, see our residential courses section.

About us

We love this part of the world and value its rich cultural and architectural history, something we wanted to protect and help restore, by becoming active contributors to the local community and economy.

So we decided to become a small Bed & Breakfast establishment, working predominantly with local artesan businesses, using the freshest, seasonal and organic ingredients wherever we can.

We decided we wanted to go back to what for us are real values.  We’ve been fortunate to travel widely, both professionally and privately, and on each trip have noticed it was the little things and thoughtful touches that always stayed with us.

That is what underpins everything we have done during the restoration and development of all aspects of our service. Our attention to detail and passion to make your stay perfect are what we think sets us apart.
